Civic
Engagement
A
Fenty administration will be connected to the people it serves.
As I have done in the years I have served on the Council, I
will constantly be out in the community listening to the needs of
citizens. I will attend community meetings, ANC meetings, PTA
meetings and other community meetings on a regular basis.
In a Fenty Administration it will not be enough to just
answer phones, we will work with residents to find the best
solutions to problems.
We will follow-up to ensure residents get responses and see
the improvement they deserve.
My administration will hire highly qualified managers to make
district government accountable and I will demand that all agencies
operate at a maximum degree of transparency and openness.
A
Fenty Administration will:
-
Make
people and neighborhoods the focus of our efforts. Government
managers will be rated on how they solve problems and on how
they communicate with people.
My entire administration and I will attend meetings and
events throughout the City on a regular basis.
We will create an Office
of Neighborhoods
and Partnerships
that will work with
residents and stakeholders to improve neighborhoods and
strengthen the trust that residents have in government.
The Fenty administration will engage in an ongoing
conversation with the people of the District to ensure the
city’s needs are being addressed.
-
Partner
with programs like Neighborhood
College and initiatives such as Collaboration DC to
increase our civic capacities and to act on issues of
importance.
-
Engage
citizens through the use of neighborhood and ward based meetings
in partnership with local civic and faith-based groups.
-
Hold
regular citywide town hall meetings.
